About this course

The block model is the spatial database that every mine plan is built on. This course takes you through the full Surpac block modelling workflow: defining model extents and block sizes, adding attributes, constraining blocks with surfaces and solids, and filling the model with assign value, nearest neighbour, inverse distance and ordinary kriging (including dynamic anisotropy). You then report volume, tonnes and grade, work with partial and multiple percentages, reblock the model, and finish with column processing for ore/waste classification, dilution and recoverable product.

What you'll learn
  • Set up a block model with sensible extents, block size and sub-blocking
  • Create and apply constraints using DTMs, solids, strings, planes and attributes
  • Fill models with assign value, nearest neighbour, inverse distance and ordinary kriging
  • Produce block model reports, calculated attributes, and partial and multiple percentage reports
  • Use column processing to classify ore and waste and calculate dilution, recoverable product and thickness
